TURBOCHARGING
CATALYST PERFORMANCE

High-performance Avium catalysts and proprietary electrolyzer stack designs generate more hydrogen using less energy than traditional systems. Avium technology builds upon the proven alkaline electrolyzer platform to deliver reliable performance with lower lifecycle costs.
Avium’s ability to regenerate catalysts in the field while the electrolyzer is running reduces ongoing capital costs for stack replacement by extending the useful life of stacks. This also reduces downtime and interruption of production associated with stack replacement.

HOW THE AVIUM
CATALYST WORKS

Avium’s breakthrough innovations enable the production of advanced non-precious metal catalysts at industrial scale. Avium’s nanoamorphous mixed metal oxide catalysts deliver cost-effective high intrinsic activity without using precious metals. Our methods create a high density of very active catalyst edge sites for extremely fast turnover.

In electrolyzers, the catalyst must bond securely to the electrode to achieve long-term stability. Our in situ deposition methods, which deposit the catalyst while the electrolyzer is operating and producing hydrogen, create a high-surface-area material that is strongly bonded to the electrode surface and maintains an open structure that optimizes mass transport.

Our optimized catalyst structures and stack designs enable electrolyzers to operate at higher current density, significantly increasing efficiency and reducing stack size. These innovations dramatically lower capital and operating costs. Increased current density also enables a higher hydrogen production rate for a given stack footprint, reducing overall plant size and weight.

NO PRECIOUS METALS
NO FOREVER CHEMICALS
NO SUPPLY CHAIN CONSTRAINTS
NO OBSTACLES TO SCALING

Avium has completely eliminated Platinum Group Metals (PGMs) from our catalysts dramatically lowering costs and eliminating supply chain constraints. In addition, Avium’s technology is water-based and does not use any forever chemicals.
Avium’s state-of-the-art catalyst technology uses non-precious, earth-abundant metals to meet or exceed the performance of precious metal catalysts at lower cost. In addition, our use of earth-abundant materials is business-friendly as it eliminates supply chain constraints. Unlike other technologies, alkaline electrolyzers empowered with Avium catalysts do not face any significant obstacles to scaling to GW levels.
